Brandie Burki

Fourth Grade

Mrs. Burki’s Teaching Philosophy

I believe that learning requires a collaboration between teacher, students, and parents that is built on trust and respect. I strive to create a learning environment where no matter where students are at, they are accepted for who and where they are at. I want to give students tools to help them persevere and achieve their goals. I build a classroom community filled with kindness and respect. My greatest desire is for my words and actions to reflect who I am in the Lord.

About Me

My passion for young people started when I was in college and began volunteering as a Missionettes bible teacher and then later a youth group leader. After obtaining my communications degree and working as a reporter for several years I went back to school and received my Early Childhood Education degree and masters in Curriculum Design and Technology. Upon graduation I was asked to work on an international character education curriculum. I began sharing the program around the country as a national speaker.  I’ve also taught several years at the college level. I am certified TESOL and worked as an online ESL teacher. Most recently I taught 4th and 6th grade at Grace Christian Academy. While there I was able to teach at the same school my kids attended, and I absolutely loved it. I am beyond thrilled to have my three kids at St. Marys with me. My husband Allen is a music teacher and plays in worship groups and local bands on the weekends. Our family loves camping, hiking, and hanging out with family and friends.
