I graduated from Billings Central Catholic High School and attended Eastern Montana College. I taught high school English in Montana for six years before moving to Riverton, Wyoming where I spent the next 34 years. The last twenty-five years were as a principal in Fremont District #25. After I retired, I was persuaded to become the principal of St. Margaret’s School. In the public school there were state and federal reports, a building
with 700 students and 100 plus staff, dealing with discipline, special education meetings, and many student health issues. I traded these for making sure there was enough in the coffers for payroll each month, praying the aging boiler would make it through the winter, and recruiting teachers at very low pay at St. Margaret’s. I would not trade either experience.

Although I loved education, a new job provided more joy than I thought possible. My husband and I moved to Cheyenne to provide daycare for our new grandson. Lorenzo and I recently celebrated our 54th anniversary and enjoy watching our three grandsons in their athletic events, music programs, family trips, and being the grandparent chauffeur service. We have found a warm and welcoming parish at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Being on the advisory board has allowed me to share the knowledge and experience accrued over the years. It is invigorating to join others who value an education that provides for the whole child- spiritually, intellectually and physically.

I was blessed that my parents gave me the gift of a Catholic education.
